What is the FastQuote?

The fastquote is the main feature of the UnicoSales App that allows you to build a full new installation of a Unico System including material list and proposal in 9 simple steps.

Quotes created through FastQuote, when finished, will be sent to the client via email as a proposal for their project.

It does the math for you

FastQuote is designed to intuitively guide you to the most compatible system for your project.

It calculates the exact amount of outlets and tubing you will need based on your input.

The process involves 9 quick steps where the user will input certain data involving the required tonnage, type of system (heating, cooling or both), the location of the installation etc.

Depending on what components you choose, certain options further into the steps may become unavailable as they are not compatible with previous selections.

The 9 steps are as follows:

  1. Details
  2. Size
  3. System
  4. Configuration
  5. Equipment
  6. Duct
  7. Project
  8. Summary
  9. Proposal

1. Details

Input the client’s:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Home address

Choose whether the project in question will be:

  • Residential or commercial
  • For a new-build or existing home
  • new installation

What is selected in Step 1: Details will determine what selections are available in later steps.

Because we're asking the homeowner for their email address, consent will need to be obtained from the client to share their personal information with Unico before proceeding to the next step.

2. Size

Ask the client:

  • How comfortable are you with the current system?
  • What needs to be improved?
  • Is it drafty?
  • Are there hot or cold spots?

The amount of tonnage must then be selected from a range of 1-5t.

Note: this step assumes a load calculation has been done at this point.

3. System

Select the system and type required from:

  • Cooling → Type: chilled water or refrigerant
  • Heating → Type: heat pump, electric, hydro air or air to water heat pump
  • Heating & Cooling → Type: choose from both above

When choosing Heating → Heat pump, choose also the backup heating type: electric, hydro air, variable water or none.

When choosing Heating → Electric, choose how many KW of heat you need.

The platform will intuitively guide you to choosing the selections relevant to the system you're building.

4. Configuration

Select the project’s orientation from:

  • Horizontal
  • Vertical upflow modular
  • Vertical upflow single
  • Vertical downflow

Select the direction of orientation from:

  • Left
  • Right

Note: left orientation is standard, right orientation is special order.

Select the motor type, with the only option being Variable ECM.

Select the return air part type from:

  • Unico
  • Field fabricated

When choosing Unico, then choose the return air part configuration from:

  • Single
  • Multiple

5. Equipment

Supply Tubing and Outlets

Select whether you'd like to build your system based on CFM Per Area (more accurate) or Estimated Outlets (less accurate). To learn more about the 10% rule calculations in this step, head here.

CFM Per Area

Select your homeowner's desired sound performance:

  • Quiet
  • Very quiet
  • Extremely quiet

Next input the:

  1. Area name (either an entire floor, and area or a specific room)
  2. The calculated CFM for the area
  3. Outlet size (2" or 2.5")
  4. Average supply tubing length
    • A quick way to calculate this is to use the distance between the plenum and the center of the room.

The app will automatically calculate your estimated outlets per area and final area CFM.

Supply Tubing R Value

Once you have your number of outlets calculated, you'll need to select your supply tubing R Value from 3.3, 4.2, 6 or 8

Outlet Colors

The standard colour for outlet covers will be a white finish. At this step, there is the option to select additional optional outlet finishes, for both 2” and 2.5” outlets, from a list of colours. Choose for each of these to be either a flush or not flush outlet.

There is also the option to select other outlet covers, but these options are for 2” outlets only:

  • Round (straight)
  • Round (angled) 15 angle*
  • Round (angled) 25 angle*
  • Slotted (straight)*
  • Slotted (angled)**

*Optional selection for a white finish

**Optional selection for a white or aluminium finish

Choose any extras you want to include from:

  • Type of UV light
  • Type of MERV 13 filter

6. Duct

First select whether you're using field fabricated or Unico parts.

Field Fabricated

Select the duct shape

  • round
  • square

Unico

1. For the plenum setup, select the plenum configuration from:

  • Perimeter loop (recommended)
  • H configuration
  • Shotgun configuration
  • T configuration

2. Choose the plenum insulation value from:

  • 6
  • 8

3. Choose the outlet adapter from:

  • Round 7”
  • Round 9”
  • Round 10”
  • Square 8.5”
  • Square 10.5”
  • Square 11.5”

Depending on previous selections, some options here may not be available.

4. Enter the length in feet for the 7”9” and 10” plenums.

5. Optional: Add plenum accessories from a short list of products.

6. Select the return air duct R value from:

  • 3.3
  • 4.2
  • 6
  • 8

7. Enter the return air duct length in feet.

8. Optional: choose any extras you want to include.

7. Project

While some fields on this page are optional, the following are mandatory:

  • The estimated start date of the project
  • The estimated duration of the project
  • The copy for the proposal that will be sent to the homeowner’s email
    • Note: You can set up a template for this section under Proposal Setup → Email Templates
  • The payment breakdown for the homeowner
  • If adding non-Unico equipment, you will need to include the product SKUnameprice and quantity. For more info on setting up your non-Unico equipment list, see this article

On this step, you can also:

  • Enter daily labor rates for contractors involved
  • Add discounts/utility rebates
  • Attach company assets such as photos and any other key elements

8. Summary

The summary page is where you'll find all the final details of the system you're building.

From this summary page, you can do the following:

Choose your distributor from the drop-down menu.

Note: If you need to add your distributor, you can follow the instructions here.

Once you choose your distributor, a material list of all materials for this system will be generated, along with your distributor’s pricing. Under this list will also be the total price.

On the right of the page, you will see your Core System Products. This will contain all the core products for the system you've built.

You can also add another system to the current proposal before finishing. This will bring you back to Step 2: Size and you will have to go through each step again with this additional system.

For further information on navigating the summary page, check out this article.

9. Proposal

Step 9 is the Proposal that will be sent as a result of the FastQuote.

You can preview and send the proposal to the client from Step 8. This will generate a proposal for the project including all information selected on FastQuote, that will be sent to the client via email.

You can also download and share the material list with the client, through clicking on the “Material” share button.
